Blog Post #11

"Involving students in projects allows for a more meaningful activity." This quote in the video Super Digital Citizen stood out more than anything else to me in all of the videos. Sam Pane in Omaha, Nebraska taught his students how to be Super Digital Citizens by allowing them to make a superhero who saves people from making irresponsible decisions on the internet. The students used an online program to create their own personalized superhero and then shared their hero with their classmates. It was a great way to personalize the lesson and let the students have fun with learning. Personalizing the learning process helps students to retain the information instead of just learning the information for a test or assignment. Also, sharing their work with their classmates was motivation for them to do their best.

  1. Hi Melanie! I also liked how Sam Pane had his students create a superhero. It was a great way to teach the children to be safe but it also allowed them to have fun. I would have loved to do something like that when I was in elementary school. Children will remember lessons like that better than one where they sit there and a teacher lectures.

  2. This is extremely brief. Did you watch the other videos? Also, you seem to have your alt and title modifiers mixed up.
